Although Edmond resident Katrin Green crossed the finish line first in the 200 meter dash to the cheers of 92,000 fans in the Bird’s Nest in Beijing, her homecoming was much more low key. This victory, however, remains sweet for the 23-year-old University of Central Oklahoma student. You see, this world-class athlete lost her left foot and part of her lower leg as a result of a farming accident in her native Germany at age 5. Green was one of nine athletes sponsored by Oklahoma City’s Scott Sabolich Prosthetics and Research, Inc. at this year’s Paralympic Games. In fact, “Team Sabolich” brought home nine medals. Scott Sabolich, CP, LP, owner and clinical director of the company which bears his name, was in attendance when Green grabbed her gold.
